Colin's Wise Wednesday - 27th March 2019

This morning we decided to do our quiet time on the patio with a cup of coffee and a rusk, who can have an early morning coffee without a rusk while in the bush? Our patio is pretty secluded on the banks of a normally dry river bed, with the river bed in front and trees all around.

As we became comfy on the patio and as I started to still my mind I kept thinking of this chorus:

“Be still for the presence of the Lord

The Holy One is here

Be still for the glory of the Lord

Is shining all around

Be still for the power of the Lord

Is moving in this place”.

It was anything but still with the Emerald spotted Dove calling in the background with descending cooing, du, du… du-du…du…du…du-du-dudu-du-du-du tailing off at the end, the grey hornbill with a series of ascending and descending ‘phe, phephee, pheephee, pheeo, phew, pheeoo-pheeoo flying overhead, and the laughing dove in the background with a soft ‘coo, coo, CUK, coo, coo. And then the tree squirrel with his bird like sounds rounding it all off.

Amidst this symphony I looked at the coffee mugs a good friend had given us. On Lyn’s was the message ”Faith is not knowing what the future holds but knowing who holds the future”. On mine it read “My Grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness”. I then realised that in spite of not being able to still my mind the sounds of God’s creation around me confirmed His presence.

Let’s pray: Lord, thanks for your creation that shouts out about a Mighty God, a Mighty creator of all things. Nothing no nothing can stop creation shouting out Your praises. We serve an Awesome God. Amen.
