Is seeking God only for the lost?  I had never given this question much thought but after reading the book “Note To Self” I realized that seeking God is for all of us, lost and found. Our entire life should be seen as seeking God. This is not necessary seeking for something that we do not know about or do not have already. God has already found us. Seeking God is a continual journey towards a closer relationship with Him.

There is/was a banner at Edenvale Methodist Church that I will always remember that basically summed up my seeking of God:

Dear Lord three things I pray,

To see Thee more clearly,

Love Thee more dearly,

Follow Thee more nearly.

I have added 2 more:

Depend on Thee completely.

Recognize Your abundant grace

It is unfortunate that at times we forget the need to seek God. We forget that we were created to reflect His glory instead we seek glory. Our cell group is doing an Andy Stanley study where he posed a question: “How can we continue to give God the glory and still maintain a healthy self-image?”. After some deliberation we came the conclusion that seeking God means that we should do everything to the best of our ability and to the glorification of His name.  If we do this we will maintain our self-image and at the same time give God the glory. And that’s what it is all about…giving God the glory.

Let's pray: Please God help us in our search to know You better and at the same time to make You known through our words thoughts and deeds. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

God Bless ~ Lyn & Colin
