Colin's Wise Wednesday - 18th December 2019

A day or so after hearing the Drakensburg Boys Choir sing we were sitting on the patio in the bush with our good friends watching the river flow by. This is rare occasion as the river only flows about once every 2 years and then only for a few days before the water disappears into the “thirsty” river bed.  As we watched the magnificent sunset with our own “sundowners” in hand the frogs started with their mating calls. As this was the first decent rain in the area this summer the frogs were in full “voice” trying to attract the opposite sex.

We had the raucous toad as the baritone with the painted reed frog and banded rubber frog making up the rest of the group. The Sharalumi River Frog Choir croaked all night long. What a performance, one fit for the King. God’s creation performing for the King of Kings, Lord of all.

Watching the sunset, hearing the frogs and remembering the Drakensburg Boys Choir made we think of the hymn:

Joy to the world the Lord is come
Let earth receive her King
Let every heart prepare Him room
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven, and heaven and nature sing

We often see signs of God but do they draw us nearer to Him?  Not always. We are content to see and admire the signs but God wants more from us - He wants us to acknowledge His presence and to be His hands and feet here on earth. He wants us to live a Christ-like lifestyle so that by our actions people will get to know Jesus. He wants us to find room in our heart for Him this Christmas. God uses every possible means to communicate this message to us. The wonders of nature, the promises and prophecies of Scripture, God Himself and the words of our worship songs: “Let every heart prepare Him room”.

Let’s pray: “God of wonders beyond our galaxies….You are Holy”. Almighty God the Galaxy is Your calling card….please help me to hear Your call, Your promptings and to respond accordingly. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Take care and God Bless ~ Lyn & Colin
