“You will never walk alone”. Welcome to 2020, new decade, a new beginning?

I don’t know if you are like me with all the New Year resolutions ; they are all well intended but a lot of them will be void of meaning unless I make a concerted effort to change. A lot of things in my life won’t change no matter how many New Year resolutions  I make,  I need to stop doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome.

I remember that last year my New Year’s resolution was just going to be one word (so that I could remember it) that I would live by, something like love, patience or kindness. Do you think that I can remember that word as we get ready for a new resolution? No. So much for my resolution. If you made a New Year’s resolution last year can you remember it? Did it make a difference in your life or in the lives of those around you?

Thinking of a new resolution for this year I thought of a song by Elvis that I came across last year and used as a reference for my last Christmas devotion. So excuse me for using it again, but this time with the aid of a line from another song as well:

“You may ask me how I know my Lord is real

You may doubt the things I say and doubt the way I feel

But I know He’s real today He’ll always be

I can feel His hand in mine and that’s enough for me

I will never walk alone He holds my hand

He will guide each step I take

And if I fall I know He will understand

Till the day He tells me why He loves me so

I can feel His hand in mine

That’s all I need to know”.

If you are an English Premier League follower you may have heard the anthem sung over and over again by certain fans, the teams name eludes me (ha ha ha ha); “You will never walk alone.” This is my wish for you and me as you walk into the New Year.

Let’s pray: Please God as we step into the New Year today I know that I have made numerous resolutions in the past and failed miserably but I also know as the word of the song goes “if I fall I know He will understand” I know that You will lift me up. Thank You God. Please God as I start the New Year help me to feel Your presence. Amen.

God Bless and lots of love ~ Lyn & Colin
